  • A world of ideals

I am 5ft 6 and weigh in at approximately 17stone or 238lb (I cant give an exact because I am terrified of jumping on the scales!) so I need to lose a grand total of 7stone or 98lb to reach a bmi of 25 or below.

Women lose weight at an average of 2lb each week. Men, the lucky sods, at an average of 2.5lb each week. I'd like to think if I make a real effort I can lose 2.5lb a week too.

98lb at 2.5lb each week is 40 weeks or there abouts.

So, I will set myself a goal date of Saturday 20th October.

That night I will be hitting the town, hopefully in a rather skimpy number !!!

You can find out your ideal weight here, but remember this is just a guide, not gospel, and the most important thing is that you are happy and feel good with yourself, no matter what your weight is !

  • Who is Jemima?

Well as you've probably guessed, my name isn't Jemima, but for the sake of Blog-Land, that is the name I will be known as.

I used to work for a weightloss clinic and have helped many people to lose pounds, stones of weight. One of my clients lost nearly 50% of her bodyweight, starting the program at 21 stone and shrinking down to just under 11 stone.

So it may come as bit of surprise to you all to know that I am currently 7 stone overweight and I have a BMI of 38.4. On the majority of height weight comparison charts that puts me in the severely obese category and therefore at a high risk of developing diseases associated with obesity such as heart disease and diabetes, knocking an average of 7 years off my life.

I'm not stupid, I know that I need to lose weight, but as any dieter knows, it's really wanting to make the change that is important.

Well I really want to make the change, NOW!

    Quod me nutrit me destruit

What nourishes me (also) destroys me

That old chestnut ... seen and heard it before (probably many times) but it is very true isn't it?
